14 March 2012 – The 4th Global Feed and Food Congress (GFFC), which will be held for the first time on the African continent in April 2013, was officially launched in Johannesburg this morning. The 4th GFFC will bring together over 700 international delegates and is the leading global platform to discuss critical global feed and food issues. The 4th GFFC is organised by the International Feed Industry Federation (IFIF) in cooperation with the Food and Agricultural Organisation of the United Nations (FAO) and will be hosted by the Animal Feed Manufacturers Association of South Africa (AFMA).  The 4th GFFC will be held 8-12 April 2013 at the Sun City Conference Centre in the North West Province of South Africa.

“The organising committee has broadened the scope of the 4th GFFC to include the total feed manufacturing and food processing value chain, with a special focus on Feed and Food Safety, Security and Sustainability. The Congress will also address critical issues such as renewable energy, bio-fuels and new technology throughout the value chain,” said De Wet Boshoff, Chairman of the 4th GFFC Organising Committee.

Boshoff added “as part of the 4th GFFC, the anticipated 700 international delegates will also have the opportunity to get to terms with the pressing issues of the South African feed manufacturing industry, as the tri-annual AFMA FORUM will be part of the larger 4th GFFC programme
