Dr Peter Plumstead completed his B.Sc. Agric (Hons) degree from Pretoria University, and M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Nutrition and Poultry Science from North Carolina State University where his primary research focused on amino acid and phosphorus nutrition of broilers and broiler breeders.

His present role is as Senior Scientist at Danisco Animal Nutrition, a division of DuPont Industrial Biosciences where his research focus covers both enzyme and direct fed microbial application to enhance nutrient utilisation and reduce feed costs in poultry. Prior to joining Danisco, Dr Plumstead also obtained several years of commercial experience in the feed Industry as Senior Nutritionist within the Meadow Feeds Group, South Africa. His scientific competency, combined with extensive commercial experience has been influential in directing the research focus of Danisco’s New Product Development research to provide solutions to address the practical challenges and high costs faced by the feed industry today.
