Growing up on a dairy and beef farm in County Fermanagh, Northern Ireland, Norman embarked on a formal education in agriculture and went to Queen’s University, Belfast where he graduated with a first class degree in 1996

In 1997 Norman completed an MSc in animal nutrition at Aberdeen University.  His MSc research project was titled ‘Feeding rumen protected methionine to the lactating dairy cow, impact on milk yield and milk protein composition’.

In September 1997 Norman Joined SCA Nutrition (A Provimi Company) as a ruminant nutritionist based at the Dalton Mill, North Yorkshire.

In 2001 Norman became the Technical Manager for Provimi UK, responsible for providing technical support to the commercial teams and the quality control and quality assurance departments.  He was also a member of Provimi’s dairy and calf research and development team.

In 2006 Norman became Technical Product Manager for ruminants where he managed a number of key accounts and was responsible for delivering technical support, product innovation and product portfolio management in the UK.

In 2010 Norman was made responsible for innovation, product development and product portfolio management in his role as Species Group Manager, ruminant for WEMEA region (West Europe, Middle East and Africa.

In November 2011, Provimi was purchased by Cargill and became part of Cargill’s animal nutrition business.  Norman in his current role as Species Technology Manager for Ruminants for the EMEA region (Europe, Middle East and Africa), responsible for global innovation, product portfolio management, technical excellence and strategic marketing and development of the ruminant business.
