Legend has it that an ancient civilisation from North Africa journeyed South to build a palace for their much-loved King. They stopped in long-extinguished volcano crater – a veritable cradle of life. A place where weird and wonderful creatures, both great and small, roamed free amidst glittering streams and dreamy waterfalls. Here, they built a magnificent palace to befit the surroundings; their King was well-pleased. And so, the palace served as the spiritual centre of their vast empire until an earthquake reduced it to ruins. Now, restored in form and rejuvenated in spirit, The Palace of the Lost City is a modern day marvel that will make your journey legendary.

The Palace of the Lost City is part of The Leading Hotels of the World – internationally recognized as the definitive mark of excellence in hospitality.

The Palace lavishes its guests with 5-star service, and is luxurious in every detail. All four suites are breathtakingly opulent. From the distinctive grandeur of the African Suite to the unforgettable King Suite, resplendent in its maple paneling, delicately frescoed ceilings and stunning panoramas over the Lost City.

Each exquisite suite revels in the magic of this remarkable place. Here and there, artistic flourishes burst with life. Each room and suite offers royal hospitality with wonderful views over water or jungle. All benefit from a personal touch.

Striking, beautifully coloured birds and fish are at home in the Cascades gardens and lakes which cover the gently sloping hillside.

They are laced with footpaths which wind between tens of thousands of exotic and indigenous trees and flowering plants. Lush gardens, tropical birds and water features give The Cascades its unique and relaxing atmosphere. A sophisticated, elegant hotel.

A cool breeze, a sultry summer’s day, an exotic cocktail at the sand bar and a hint of Turkish music, set the scene for a perfect holiday retreat.

The Mediterranean is the deep, blue heart that gives life to the countries that surround it. With this in mind, Sun City has transformed the Cascades Pool and Santorini Restaurant into an area reminiscent of the azure blue of the tranquil Mediterranean.

The original garden area has been transformed into a lake with cascading waterfalls. The pool deck has been extended by about 7 metres and the lawn areas have been converted into a sandy beach complete with a secluded bathing area and sand bar evocative of Tom Cruise’s “Cocktail” movie. Guests can enjoy the ambience complete with bikini’s and flamboyant barmen. There is a heated pool, a Jacuzzi pool and children’s pool.

The Mediterranean restaurant Santorini is surrounded by glass windows providing an all season enclave, harbouring guests during winter. Alfresco dining takes place along the island promenade and delightful gazebo’s offer shaded areas where guests can relax informally and enjoy a delectable meal.

The refreshing, laid back ambience of the Cabanas at Sun City is the immediate impression one receives upon welcome. The most relaxed and casual of all the hotels at Sun City, the Cabanas offer informal yet comfortable accommodation.

The reception area is spacious with a balconied foyer overlooking the Palm Terrace. Attractive planters placed around the tiled floor, and the lightly textured walls topped with a ceiling frieze of tropical foliage and flowers, all contribute to an immediate holiday feeling.

In fact, when he’s not too busy exploring what the other pool decks have to offer, guests can spot Figaro, Sun City’s resident Blue Crane, strutting his stuff by the Grande Pool Bar.
