Animal nutritionist with a PhD (1994) and a Habilitation (2004) degree from the University of Hohenheim in Germany. More than twenty years experience in research, teaching and development in Europe, the US, Africa and Asia. Currently Global Operating Project Leader “Sustainable Intensification of Livestock Systems” of the International Livestock Research Institute. Major research interests are 1) feeding and feed resourcing at the interface of positive and negative effects from livestock, 2) multidimensional crop improvement to concomitantly improve food, feed and fodder traits in new crop cultivars; and 3) optimization of locally available feed resources through small business enterprises around decentralized feed processing. Published about 100 per reviewed journal articles and about 100 conference contributions around these research interests.
